About Us
Sebastian Postl ran a recording studio in Burgenland, Sebastian Pichelhofer developed open-source cameras. Then their path led both to film making and together at BOKU University – that was many shared film projects and more than half a lifetime ago. Now topics such as the preservation of life on Earth, social progress, climate resilience, the fascinating diversity and complex interplay of all life and collective survival, and the communication of science associated with these are what interest them. Sebastian and Sebastian also have a simple solution that they immediately put into action: making films to reach people!
New technologies or scientific discoveries are one side of the coin. But broad rethinking and transformation only happen when many people are touched and reached. That’s exactly where Future Generation Film comes in: documentary filmmaking – personal emotional stories shared by people on equal terms told in visually impressive, pictures and combining innovative technologies and narrative formats such as immersive virtual reality experiences.

We see ourselves at the intersection of art, science, and technological development. Experiences such as virtual reality literally open up new worlds – allowing us to better imagine the “unthinkable” for real life.
Design & Innovation
Finding new ways to tell stories and enable experiences means exploring media beyond classic film formats: virtual reality, 360° 3D moving images.

Interdisciplinarity, international cooperation across various fields, a broad network of long-term partners (such as Ars Electronica or BOKU University), fundamentally open to new ideas.
Working Method
Green production has by now also become standard in film production. Instead of arriving with trucks packed with equipment, we come to the filming location whenever possible with a climate ticket and by train, with the equipment in a backpack.

The mystery of a man who, at the peak of his career, gives up everything and devotes himself to developing a universal theory to explain our world: the Austrian Hans Hass. He is considered one of the most important underwater film pioneers of the 20th century. Through his monumental cinema films, Hans Hass and his wife Lotte became icons of diving sport.
